4. Data collected on this website
Server log files
The provider of the pages automatically collects and stores information in server log files which your browser transmits to us automatically. These are:
- Browser type and browser version
- Operating system used
- Referrer URL
- Host name of the accessing computer
- Time of the server request
- IP address
These data are not combined with other data sources. Collection takes place on the basis of Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR. The website operator has a legitimate interest in the technically error-free presentation and the optimisation of the website.
Configuration code & URL hash
Your inputs in the configurator are stored exclusively
locally in your browser URL (in the hash fragment after #). URL hash content is not transmitted to the server by the browser — it only leaves your device when you actively share the link or submit it via the request form.
There is no server-side storage of your configurations.
Local storage (localStorage) for the compare feature
When you use the "Compare configurations" feature and click the
"+ Add to compare" button, your browser saves up to three configuration codes
locally on your device. The following entry is created in your browser's
localStorage:
- Key:
tnc:compare-cart:v1 - Content: JSON list with up to 3 entries — each containing a configuration hash, a short description of the model, and a timestamp
- Retention: until you remove the entries yourself or clear your browser storage
This data stays exclusively on your device and is not transmitted to our server. The storage is based on § 25 (2) (2) TTDSG — it is strictly necessary to provide the compare feature you have explicitly requested. Therefore no consent is required.
You can clear the storage at any time — either via the "Remove all" button on the compare page, by removing entries individually with the "× Remove" button, or via your browser settings (clear site data).
Request form & data sheet delivery
If you contact us via the request form, the following data is processed:
- Required: company, name, email address
- Optional: phone, notes, workload description, target capacity, HA preference, project timeframe
- Configuration data: the configuration code you created and the underlying selections (model, disks, RAID, network, expansion)
- Technical metadata: IP address, user agent, timestamp — used solely for spam protection and audit documentation of your consent
The data is stored in our email system for the purpose of processing your request and possible follow-up questions (see "Order processing" below). The data is not shared with any third parties beyond what is described here.
Data sheet PDF (optional): If you leave the corresponding checkbox active in the request form, we generate a data sheet PDF from your configuration data and send it together with a recovery link to the email address you provided. The PDF contains your configuration data and our company information only — no personal data of other users.
Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR (pre-contractual measure) where your request relates to a possible business relationship; additionally Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (legitimate interest in answering inquiries). Data sheet delivery is based on your explicit consent (Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR).
Retention period: We store your request data for as long as it is needed to process your request, but at least for the duration of the statutory retention periods (e.g. § 257 HGB, § 147 AO under German law). You can request deletion of your data at any time, provided no statutory retention obligations apply — a brief email to truenas@datazone.de is sufficient.
Order processing: Email delivery via Microsoft 365
For sending and receiving the request emails (including the automatic data sheet email to you) we use the email service Microsoft 365 of Microsoft Ireland Operations Limited, One Microsoft Place, Carmanhall and Leopardstown, Sandyford, Dublin 18, D18 P521, Ireland. A data processing agreement under Art. 28 GDPR is in place with Microsoft. Processing takes place within the EU; any data transfer to third countries is safeguarded based on the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
Web analytics with Matomo
This website uses Matomo, an open-source software for the statistical analysis of visitor accesses. Matomo runs on our own servers in Germany (self-hosting), so no data is transmitted to third parties.
Matomo is configured on this website so that no cookies are set (cookie-less tracking). Therefore no personal data is stored in your browser. Your IP address is anonymised before storage so that no conclusions can be drawn about individual users.
Legal basis: processing takes place on the basis of our legitimate interest in the statistical analysis of user behaviour for the purpose of optimising our website (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR). Through the absence of cookies and IP anonymisation, any reference to a person is largely excluded.
The following data is collected:
- Anonymised IP address
- Pages accessed and time of access
- Referrer URL (previously visited page)
- Browser and operating system used
- Screen resolution
Matomo opt-out
You can object to data collection by Matomo at any time. Use the following option:
Other cookies
During normal browsing this website does not set any cookies. You can therefore use the configurator, the model overview and the compare feature without a cookie banner and without consenting to any consent-required data processing.
There are two exceptions — both strictly technically required:
- Matomo opt-out cookie (
mtm_consent_removed): only set if you actively opted out of analytics (see above). Purpose: to remember your opt-out. - PHPSESSID cookie on
/api/contact.php: only set when you submit the request form, used solely for spam and abuse protection (rate limiting — max 1 request per minute). The cookie is deleted when the browser session ends.
Both cookies are exempt from consent under § 25 (2) (2) TTDSG because they are strictly necessary to provide the service you have explicitly requested (storing your opt-out, or sending the request with spam protection).
5. Your rights
At any time you have the right to obtain free information about the origin, recipient and purpose of your stored personal data. You also have the right to demand the correction or deletion of this data. For this purpose and for further questions on the subject of data protection, you can contact us at any time. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority.
